Seems like this is common. I have an 06 Dakota, same problems. Guess I should skip to checking the FCM and TICM first. My problem is currently very intermittent.

I have the following codes:
U0100- Lost Communication with ECM/ PCM
U0101- Lost Communication With Transmission Control Module
P0700- Transmission Control System (Malfunction Indicator Lamp Request)
P1603- PCM Internal Dual-Port RAM Communication Failure
P0882- TCM Power Input Signal Low
P0876- Transmission Fluid Pressure Sensor/ Switch D Circuit Range/ Performance
P0988- Transmission Fluid Pressure Sensor / Switch E Circuit Range/Performance
P0871- Transmission Fluid Pressure Sensor / Switch C Circuit Range/Performance
P0846 -Transmission Fluid Pressure Sensor / Switch B Circuit Range/Performance
P0869- Transmission Fluid Pressure High

Personally, I think it's an electrical issue. Maybe there is an issue with the connectors to the PCM or to the battery. I would like to get a second opinion on this to help me figure out where to start troubleshooting.

I created a spreadsheet with the information from the Factory Service Manual. I would appreciate any help or information. Thanks.
I'm suffering the same issue; damn-near as soon as I rolled over 90k I got the same list of codes. So far, I've replaced:
- PCM - which took care of the P1603 code: no CEL for a week or two and then the other codes came back;
- Transmission filters and fluid, per TSB 21-016-05: this also cleared the code for a few days, and then they came back;
- Changed out the trans control relay, as I read that could be causing the 0882 code.

Since then, I've also received the following codes:
- C2202 - Original VIN Mismatch/Missing; read that this may be a problem with the ABS module;
- C2206 - Vehicle configuration mismatch; read that this might be a problem with the "occupant restraint controller";
- U1414/15 - Implausible/Missing ECU network/Vehicle configuration data.

Most of what I've read points to the 0882 and 1414/15 codes possibly being caused by the TIPM/fuse-block being bad or having issues. I'm planning to do what I can to check all the connections and wiring, hopefully to rule out that as the cause. I've read mixed things about how difficult it is to replace the TIPM, everything from it needs to be specially ordered and flashed by a stealership to simply having to match a part number and turn the key on and off twice to program it. Hopefully I can get enough information to post something helpful.

Default same issue 06 dakota

Im having the same issues on a 06 Dakota SLT 4.7l AWD I just picked up. Very strange but identical to the issues described. Can’t find much info or people successfully diagnosing this problem online.. Have any of you managed to locate the problem and get your trucks fixed? I would love to hear some updates on your experiences!

I've changed the battery, battery clamps, disconnected and cleaned all grounds, cleaned connections to the ECM/TCM, FCM, fuse box and all fuse box plugs, transmission plug, replaced the ignition switch, replaced the FCM, and replaced the fuse box and still get these errors and transmission in limp mode. I've also had the vehicle security alarm go off twice! It most often happens when restarting the truck hot, or when backing up then switching to drive. I used to trying scanning and clearing codes afterward but have given up. Now I just turn it off, count to 10 and try again. That works 99% of the time.

I have an 06 dodge Dakota v8, original owner. Also have P0700 code and CEL came on but I believe it started when transmission cooling line leaked. Just replaced them and need to make sure replaced enough ATF. Will do some more testing.

Has anyone tried changing the crankshaft sensor?

I'm not sure, but I have noticed that if I start the engine immediately after putting the key in the ignition the CEL doesn't come on and it doesn't start in limp mode. I read about someone else doing that somewhere and it seems to consistently work for me, I haven't had the CEL come on once since I started doing this; something about starting the engine before the computer can detect and register an error...

I'd still like to get to the bottom of this and figure out what's really going on, but in the meantime this bypass trick has allowed me to focus on other things.

Anyone else having any luck?

The one on the flywheel/flex plate will shut the engine off. Leaky rear main seal will coat the sensor with oil and cause it. I changed the rear main seal and it quit happening.
