Cool RWD - Front Hub/Bearing - Is Replacement Required?

Hey peeps,

I suspect that the hub/bearing needs to be replaced. I posted a video on youtube, can you guys weigh in on whether this requires replacement or not. Should it spin freely? Is the noise enough of an indication to replace?

you should replace the bearing if its noisy or has play. It doesn't sound healthy just spinning it by hand. You really want to test it loaded; If you were getting a growling noise at highway speed; replace it.

Thanks guys. Tbh I took the video yesterday and already replaced driver side hub. Just wanted validation

Doing passenger side now.

PartSource in Canada: $220 and $140 for MOOG

P.S. RWD w/ 2-Wheel ABS requires front driver side hub/bearing for 4-Wheel ABS (sensor for ABS also used for wheel speed) and front passenger side hub/bearing for 2-Wheel ABS (no sensor).

Got everything all replaced, had to scoot over to dealership for one of the hub/bearing mounting bolts, lucky they had just 1 in stock.

I don't know if this is related to the hub/bearing replacement I did, but I noticed this right after doing this job so thought I would ask. With the BlueDriver OBDII device, I am pulling a code C3800. BlueDriver cannot find any info on this code, neither can I in the FSM or even with google. The code is listed under "Occupant Restraint Controller Trouble Codes".

I tried clearing the code but it seems dormant. No lights flashing or anything, just showing code on reader.

Any ideas?

try disconnecting the battery for a while to wipe computer clean, see if this clears code.
