05 Quad Gas Miles V8

That all on him, he must drive lead footed, I'm amazed no one think how they drive is the biggest factor to gas milage. I'm seeing about 15 MPG all city driving, and about 19-20 MPG highway and I'm farly heavy footed.

In the range of 55-65 mph he gets around 20 mpg. The Dak is a 2005 that he purchased in Feb 05. It is his 5th Dak and has loved them all. Local or around town (city driving) he averages between 15-16. It is the 4.7L Magnum engine and not sure what the rear end ratio is.
Previously he had a V6 which got better gas mileage.
If I can put an AirCharger (63-1546) on mine and tow my trailer at 55mph and get 16-18 highway, I'll be OK with it. However, I'm getting a 3.92 RER and I know I'll be hard pressed to get that kind of mileage. I'm basing this on the numbers everyone has cited as having a V8 w/3.55.
FWIW, my 1968 Dodge Hemi with 4.30 rear end only got 6 mpg but the gas was 15ยข a gal. and that was a long time ago without all the crap on the engine. Ah those were the days when 'Smok-em' had an entirely different meaning! Today I don't drive lead footed but in a more conservative manner so I might be able to get close.

I have an 05 QC 4.7 4X4 SLT loaded....
IM kinda heavy on da foot as well!If I kept the MPH @ 70 or under I was getting17.2 - 17.9MPG.
I droped in a K&N air filter ($50)and got better MGP,then I modified my intake a LIL bit (free)and saw/felt/heard better response & better MPG.Then replaced my muffeler @ 7,ooo miles w/ a 2 1/2" 3' strait pipe($20),wow,It sounds awesome!!plus IM getting more power,@ a dead stop if I mash the peddle the tires are lighting up!
If I drive @ 75MPH IM getting 20.2 20.9 MPG.If @ 65 I'll get 23 MPG.

ORIGINAL: cavemanWhat rear end do you have 3.55 or 3.92. I plan to order one in feb.caveman
At times I wish I had the3.25 for a quick start of the line, but on the other hand I wish I had the 3.92 for more tow cap.
IM in the middle of the road and happy w/ what was delt.

The 3.25 would be a dog very slow off the line but great gas milage. The 3.92 is quick off the line more towing power but bad gase milage. the 3.55 is the middle of the road. which is what I plan to order. I travel Interstate 85% of the time (about 75mi/hr) tow 5% and in the fields 10%. 4X4 with 3.55 is just the right combination for me. I think you have the right setup.

i'm avg around 13mpg myself...jus tgot an oil change and tires rotated. On this last tank of gas though i've been letting off the gas easily, so hopefully from my calculations so far i'll get about 15mpg on this tank.
What brand of gas is everyone running? As I stated earlier I was getting a consistent 17.9 then it dropped to 16.5-16.7. Think I figured it out. I was using Safeway gas. No problems. Then gas went up and AM/PM was the cheapest around. I mean at $2.75 a gallon on a 22 gallon tank that hurt. well the last 4 tanks I have used Shell and 7-11 as they are only .02 more than AM/PM right now. Mileage is back up to 17.7-17.9 and thats with a fiberglass canopy on board. Aint using AM/PM gas noooooooooo more!
