05 Quad Gas Miles V8
Well I am sorry to hear about those mpg's. I am expecting delivery of an '06 sometime this month, hopefully, and it too will be the Mag V8 with anti-spin 3.92 rear end.
I plan on using it to tow a couple of tons with and was hoping the mpg's around town would be higher (16-17) then the tow load would drop it back.
I hope a few others can shed some light, otherwise that Miles of Freedom gas card will be gone in the first couple of months.

Thanks I'm sorry also with a rating of 15 city to 20 hiway you would expect better. I do only have 400 miled on her though. I hope it will improve to at least 14 in combined driving !
I talked with a friend of a friend who said her husband has a 2004 Dakota V8 (no other info available on specs at this time) and just loves it.
He drives it to work and back (40 mi one way) which includes an up-an-over a 1500' mountain. Handles well and runs real good. But when he gets to the gas station he breaks down and cries. He bought the Dak new and has had it in the shop "too many times" all on why he only gets 12-13 mpg... It just ain't rite!
I have a big block Silverado Chevy with 8' bed and checked it out while towing a 4000 trailer for 200 miles. Got 18 mpg and its a 1988 with 118,000 miles on it. I hesitate to think that it will take that long for the Dak's mpg to improve to a desired acceptance level.
I certainly hope I will have better results than the low teens.

My 05 QC Laramie was getting around 18.5-19 before I put the 3" w/Flowmaster 40 on(not the FM cat back but shop bent 3"). Also put a drop in K&N filter. Then it dropped to a consistent 17.7. Then about 3 weeks ago it dropped to a consistent 16.6. And last friday it burped and the check engine light came on. Dodge tech(a friend) OBD the thing and it showed multiple cylinder misfire. Then it reset showing no problems. I thinks I need to clean the IAT and get a CAI on the thing. Too much exhaust and not enough intake! She does have some get up and go though. And sounds so suweeeeeeeeeeet!
I average about 15 in the city and I have about 14G's on it. On the highway, I get about 18.5 and that's with the K&N drop in filter. I'll be putting my Air Raid system in on Friday. Should get way closer to 20 on the highway.
I took my truck from Vancouver, WA to Newport Bay on the Oregon coast and back on one tank of gas with plenty of miles left to go. Round trip plus extra around town driving, going up and down hills on a windy road going no faster than 75, with three adults came to about 357 miles with 20 miles left in the tank according to the overhead console.
