oh man it's been a while since I did this, just got the email so I figured might as well respond.
I did upgrade the whole set to the TSB (one more spring than original if I remember correctly?)
I also replaced the cylinders.

When putting it back together, I hooked up the rear spring to the both shoes and then put them into the brake system, but hard to stretch it a bit to make it fit

DIdn't realize that there's a TSB out for the rear brakes. You wouldn't happen to have the TSB number, would you?
