Default Console question

I have a 2006 dakota ST and I was wondering if I get the overhead console with the temp and compass out of a 2006 truck that came with it. Will it go on and work in my truck? Is the correct wiring up there for it? Is there any other sensors needed or connected to it? Im hoping I can just put it up there and plug it into maybe a unused prewired connection that just wasnt used for my lower model..Does any one know or have done this?

You will need the temperature sensor which is mounted on the radiator support. Not sure what else and if the dealer would have to "enable" it to work.

i'm in the process of trying this for my 07 ram. I'm betting it will work plug and play.

my first trial failed as i got an 06 overhead console(a later model was not available). it plugged in and did not work due to different communication systems used on the 07. when a 07-08 is found; i will try again.

I added the overhead temp console to my 05 SLT. You have to cut out the headliner obviously. I cut one side just a bit too much so be careful.

The wires were all in the passenger side pillar after removing the grab handle and trim. Hopefully those links provided above will show you which ones. I think there were 4 wires to tap.

I did this with my 05 st. You need to order the correct mounting bracket for the console. Mine came with only lights where the OH console goes. They say the wiring is in the pass side a pillar, mine wasn't. but the wiring for the original light is 50% of the wiring needed. you also have to run 2 wires from any canbus + &- location. the wire you use to run the canbus signal up to the console HAS to be a twisted pair or you can get false readings.. make sure the OH console you buy has pigtail that plugs into it. it would be a nightmare to try and make one. . take the flip down sun shields off to lower the headliner, replace the bracket with the correct new one(60$)cut little bits at a time out of the headliner until you can get the oh console .to mount properly While my truck didn't have the wiring in the a pillar, it did have the temp sensor on the rad support

one way to tell if the OHC will work for you is getting the module part number . then look up on mopar parts if that module is listed as one for your truck. with its options. if it is listed as a replacement part it should work. the module is the black piece that the wires go into, and has the display. I have a bare module that works on a 2005 Dakota and it should work on a 2005-2007. I can get the module number if anyone is interested, but on my way to work now

I dont know what engine urs is but I just have the 3.7 v6 Im hoping it will help with the take off from a stop..Did you notice any real difference?
