Default New guy with a question

Hello folks, I am new to this forum and still feeling my way around. So, I am looking to buy a 2006 Dakota for home projects and the person selling it says there has been an intermittent problem with the truck. Apparently when it is driven in the summer and it's hot out, it's check engine light will come on and it will stall. When it was checked out, the guy was told that it was the computer (ECM). Any thoughts on this? Thank you.

And he didn't have the computer replaced? Would be interesting to know what codes it came up with to turn on the check engine lite.

Unfortunately, there are a selection of sensors that can fail when hot, and cause the truck to simply stop running.......

There is a lot of good / great help here. Buy it. We'll figure it out together.

Thank you for your reply. I have a code reader so if the light comes on, I'll see what it says. Thank you.

I purchased a code reader so if it occurs, I'll snap it on and hopefully catch the problem. It's funny that it doesn't do it when the engine is hot, only supposedly in hot weather.

Even if the light is not on, the code is still stored. Plug your reader in and see what it says.
