Default Plugged connector under hood question

Hey, I have been absent from the forum for a decade or so, but I question.....hehe..

have an 05 Dakota I use to putt around town and had a question for you guys, (I did a quick forum search but it is a hard “question” to nail down in a search)

anywho, so I was under the hood today and noticed a unused two pin connector just resting on my front bumper, I did a quick chase back and it branched off where my existing fog light harness is located...any ideas?

SLT trim level so I know it doesn’t have every option, I just can’t figure out what a Laramie would potentially need to hook up out front, or why it exists at all and is stubbed out.

I included two pictures, a close up as it exists on my Dakota and a stock photo I fetched off the introwebs (allpar I believe). In that specific photo you can see the connector in question located just in front of the radiator. Driver side.

thanks in advance.

Temperature sensor for the outdoor temp display on the overhead console, if you have one.
