Default Shift Linkage issue and WTH is this part?!?

Hi Guys,

My 2005 Dodge Dakota ST (4WD, 3.7L) will not switch from park. The shifter does move (once the brake is pushed in), but it just moves around loosely like it is not attached to anything. On the dash, even when the shifter is moved out of park, it never leaves P. It appears to be linkage related. The actual cable appears fine. I've narrowed it down to a part within the auto trans shifter linkage that attached to the cable.

Resolved it. Turns out it wasn't that part. The cable had broken inside of the covering and I just didn't realize it. Got another cable from a different dealership and its working again.
