reset engine light

Default reset engine light

2007dak
engine light came on,,, scanned it, then wanted to reset, and get that light OFF, I disconnected negative cable, then reconnected that cable, now truck wont start? any help, ideas?

What was the code? By not starting, do you mean it won’t turn over or turns over and won’t start? Need to be specific.

Once a code is set, disconnecting the battery almost never will reset the code depending on which ECU is involved. That code is saved in non-volatile memory. So it's just like unplugging your computer: all the software is still there when you plug it back in.

Whatever scan tool you used to read the code will also have a function to clear the codes. That, or fixing the actual issue is the only way to clear that code.

Like "jkeaton" says, you have to be more specific about what code was present.
