Default Driving without front driveshaft

I am needing to change my failing front driveshaft but may not be able to get the correct part as quick I'd wish. Can I remove the shaft and drive in 2wd without any short or long term effects?
My truck is a 2005 Dakota 4.7 SLT 4WD.

You should be fine in 2WD.

Completely harmless did it for over a year, you can drop in and out of 4wd and low aswell without any negative affects. I would also recommend replacing your front drive shaft with a proshaft cv eliminator.
