Default heater/blower motor problem?

I just purchased a 2007 Dakota, this is my first week driving it. On Monday when I left work, the blower motor took about 30 secs after I started the truck to come on. This morning it took a little longer and when I left work it took about 5 mins to come on. Once it is blowing it blows the whole ride home, it works in all speeds but if I stop, say at a gas station and shut the truck off, when I restart the truck it will take some time to come on again. any ideas?

Your blower motor resistor may be on it's way out. It's about a $20 part, go with an OEM resistor if replacing. I tried an aftermarket one, and it lasted about 2 weeks. Check the wiring harness too, I've seen some burnt connectors needing replacement.

Also, how old is your battery? Weak batteries do weird things to the electrical system on these trucks.

Welcome aboard.

Thanks for your input. I was thinking the same thing although my experience with resisters is the lower speeds don't work but high does so it kinda stumped me. I was also thinking maybe the relay? I'll check it and the connector out. Not sure how old the battery is but will check into that as well.

This truck is a little different than what I'm used to but I really like it. Thanks again

A lot of times when the motor is worn, it will have a dead spot. Once you get moving the air from driving at speed or vibration will rotate it off that spot and it starts working. Then once it's turned off, it's dead until moved again.

Fixed! The problem (I believe) was the relay wasn't seated completely in the distribution box. Checked it out yesterday and haven't had an issue since.
