Here ya go, straight from the 2005 Dodge Dakota Factory Service Manual. Follow the link below to download (and save) the Manual for yourself.

It's real simple: (IIRC -- I haven't done it in a while)
  • Pop trim off (Next to window, towards rear of truck), it should pry right off
  • Remove screws
  • Lift up panel to remove (straight up, not away from door)
  • Remove metal rod (door handle)
  • Disconnect wiring harness
(Reverse for install)

Default 06 Dakota window off track....

Dakotaff thanks for ur response it's much appreciated on my side. In the midst of my dilemma detail I had totally had 4got to mention I have power windows on my Dakota & they r not one touch buttons (opps my bad sorry) & okay so thanks again for ur help & I am now at the process now of overall panel is off & I now know where I stand with the whole window & where to simply begin as far as what went wrong & now more of ur assistance may & will b appreciated when I have to install the the part that I am going to be purchasing I just would like to get a little bit of advice and hopefully it would do me and save me a lot of trouble and money for what I am basically knowing the problem is... okay so what went wrong is when the window was attempted to be rolled down it made a loud pop and the window dropped completely into the door so what had happened now is as I'm looking at my door the cable where it goes into the rest of the window regulator (some white plastic piece) had separated from the rest of the (white plastic piece) to the window regulator were the cable rest inside it, so the window can be lowered up and down with its tension and yadda yada... so as far as the advice goes I have been told that I am going to have to buy the whole assembly piece window regulator and motor is all-in-one complete assembly. now I would find it much easier to just replace the regulator and not worry about the motor because the motor is all fine and dandy it is just the white plastic part of the regulator that the cable broke away from causing the cable to break free & away from the regulator part adapter. Okay so that was the issue and it is from my point of view non fixable or jerry-rig able to my liking to where I don't have to go in there again and replace it or jerry-rig it again so what I'm asking is do you recommend that I get just the regulator and do the repair of the regulator on my own and install it or would you recommend that I go ahead and buy the whole assembly with the motor as well and install it that way because I've been told that it's best that I install it with the whole motor and the window regulator all in itself together...?? should it be just as simple as removing the window regulator and installing just the regulator itself or do you recommend that I go ahead and purchase the whole assembly motor and regulator and install that way myself ... Your advice would be greatly appreciated and also instructions step by step to help install of either or assembly or just the window regulator would be appreciated ... if I make any sense in any of my mumble-jumble talk here...? Any and all advice from anyone and everyone would be appreciated as well just as an experience on my Dakota it's been a pain in my *** and only getting a bigger pain to becoming a hemorrhoid if not ready burst and cause immense amount of an atrocity to my bunghole... LOL!! Sorry for the graphic language so glad that there is a site and a forum to go to with help and advice like this very glad I came upon it not the first time though that I've been upon the Dodge forum but definitely my first time with a post and issue that hasstumped me like this so stoked and ready to get this done and installed hopefully I get some good advice and some great instructions and will have it done by maybe this weekend of Sunday night fingers crossed and can't wait to hear from you!!

If the cable just popped out of it's track, you can try to put it back into place. (Trying to make sense of what is going on, it's tough to read that giant paragraph above.) Otherwise you will have to buy the whole motor regulator assembly, since that's the only way it's sold.

(LINK to the OEM part,
and

to a Dorman aftermarket part.)

You can search the part number for prices, and check your local dealer for a price at the parts counter if you want.

It should be straight forward and not difficult to replace, never had to do mine.
