Default Engine Options

We have a 2008 Dakota with 297K on it and cylinder #7 just let go. The engine is toast and we really like the truck. I was thinking about doing an engine swap from something from Copart or IAA if I can find a suitable donor. What all years and makes us the same exact long block? Even if it's another make, that helps because it will open up the search for vehicles. Is there anything I need to watch out for that make the swap difficult?

I don't mind doing the swap, I have swapped a couple of engines in the past. Don't want to but would rather do it and get some more out of it. The truck is mostly all highway miles.

Sorry, the 4.7. I actually didn't realize there were two available at the time.

the dakota, durango, ram, grand cherokee etc... that have the 4.7 would be good donors. make sure it's one of the HO ones with the 2 plugs per cylinder, and it will be a direct swap into your 08. if it's one of the earlier ones with just one plug per cylinder, you can swap your heads if they are in good shape.

Thanks! That helps me a lot! Time to start looking for a donor.

Say would you be willing to part out the air intake manifold on that broked 4.7?
