2005 Dakota Idle Issue
Hi,
I am new to this site and also very new to Dodges. I recently got a 2005 Dakota, 4.7L. It has two engine codes, P0508, and P0443. For the IAC issue, the truck idles great once in a while, and the rest of the time it'll either surge and high idle for a few seconds and drop, or it'll just start low and stay low (about 500 rpm). It does hunt around the 500 mark sometimes too. I have replaced the IAC, and done all the things I could find online, including cleaning the throttle body, replacing TPS, replacing all O2 sensors (had to replace the Y-pipe anyway), running injector cleaner/fuel treatment through a tank of gas, and checking any exposed wires for breaks or burn through. I also checked all my fuses. Battery voltage is good, and the truck has a new alternator. For the Evap code, I checked all vacuum lines using the carb cleaner technique, and I have also replaced the purge valve solenoid. No change and no leaks. I also checked the lines above the fuel tank, and didn't see cracking or anything out of the ordinary.
Because I have two circuit related codes, could it be my PCM/ECM? Another issue I noticed is that there are some braided ground straps, there is one that attaches to the firewall toward the passenger side within the engine bay, and there is another above the exhaust pipe under the vehicle. Both straps are broken. Could this be related?
Thanks, any advice is much appreciated.
