Anything blocking airflow? I've seen a radiator caked with mud that acted this way. Was the cooling system serviced at 100,000?

I'm wondering if the core is full of sediment. If the antifreeze wasn't changed every 4 to 5 years or so, sediment from electrolysis might be closing the tubes up.

thanks, nothing blocking the airflow but, the radiator might be an issue. i installed a new radiator about 3 years ago but the truck sat idle for almost a year with coolant in the radiator. prior to sitting idle it didn't overheat. the radiator flush came out clean with a good flow but, could the coolant have hardened and be causing a circulation problem. if so i couldn't tell by flushing it. i'm gonna check it out. thanks again

Did you use the correct HOAT coolant? Mixing can cause gelling that will clog the system.

thanks, i used premixed prestone antifreeze/coolant. do you think because the truck sat idle for almost a year (unexpected health problems) with coolant in the radiator could cause a problem?. isn't recommended to drain the radiator if it's going to sit idle for a long period of time?

Isn't the Prestone green? Only asking cuz the stock stuff is orange. And as mentioned, mixing: Bad.

Also thinking flow issues. How's the routing of the hoses? The lower hose was an absolute bear for me.

Have you checked the air filter? Sounds crazy but I had a similar problem. One day the truck just started to over heat for no reason at all. I recalled the only thing I had done was bang out the air filter.I still had several hundred kms to go on my trip, so I pulled into a crappytire store and bought a new air filter. Popped in the new filter in and over heat issue was gone.
