Default Ball joints

While browsing rockauto all of the ball joints say "lower". Are the upper and lowers the same?

Thanks boys.

The upper ball joint is not replaceable without replacing the entire control arm. Fortunately the MOOG upper control arm is relatively affordable.

Actually, they don't have hair so they ought to be called bald joints. (Sorry, too much caffeine this morning. ) Seriously, while the upper ball joints CAN be replaced, it's a lot easier to just replace the upper control arm. This way both the ball joint and the rubber bushings on the upper control arm get replaced at the same time.
