Default Tire woes

Went to Costco to make an appointment for them to put on a set of Bridgestone DuelerA/T Revo 3s in 265/75/R16. They wouldn't mount them on my stock height 05 Dakota, saying the are more that 3% larger than the factory tires. He said we can't, theyre gonna rub, I said I know they will, Ill trim the fender after the tires are on. They said they cannot mount those tires on that truck.

Discount Tire will price match Costco and they will mount them. After some thought I MAY go with a slightly smaller tire since the lift isnt till next year. I just want some fresh rubber that I can do some light off roading with. Thoughts anyone?

Stay with what fits? In your other post, the tires you have look like fine in the pictures. If they are and this truck spent its life on backroads and you're only talking about light off-roading, I'd use what you have until you get the lift done. Once all of the preparations are done for larger tires, then add them. Just a thought...

If I could hold off on tires longer I would. The distance pics don't show the condition the tires are really in. I live in Arizona, its March now but by late April early May it will be 100 degrees, and tires in this condition just aren't safe here. I'm not going to lift it until next year and these just wont make it that long. These dry cracks are all over the tires.

yea, couldn't see that. Maybe a set of used tires that are good shape just to get you through the year? Hard to pay $500+ for just one year of use.

I would just get the 265/70/16 tires if I were you, sitting at stock height.

Get these (If you're close enough), seems like a great price for Michelins mounted and balanced.

On a side note Im really enjoying the forum community so far. Good bunch here. Thanks all. -M

Too bad you didn't have the lift already. That would be a good job to do while quarantined to the house.

I used to live in AZ, will never forget being outside during the summer and I hear a kaboom. One of my tires blew while parked lol. They didn't look as bad as yours either.

I had the spare in my Corolla blow in the trunk while I was driving down the 10 by ASU Mountain. Freaked me the hell out. Felt like I got rear ended! Just ordered the new tires. Went with Bridgestone AT Revo 3s 265/70R16. Getting them put on Friday. New bumper tomorrow.

So I got the new bumper. Got it mounted, got the new tires. Heres the story. I called Discount tire Wednesday asking them to order Bridgestone Dueler Revo 3 A/Ts in 265/70 R16. They said no problem, I told them I would ve there Friday first thing to get them mounted. Thursday: new bumper.

New bumper on and straight so good to go. Friday morning I get to Discount Tire, they tell me, yup, got your tirea, give us 20 minutes, we'll get you going. 5 minutes later the manager comes out to me saying sorry man, I ordered 17s not 16s. I can have 16s here in a couple hours. Im going, no, what do you have in house right now. A set of AT Coopers . . . No thank you . . . or a set of Goodyear Wrangler ATs at $30 more per tire. The guy says I'll split tye difference with you, $15 per tire. I said do it. So Goodyear Wranglers in 265/70R16.

I think they look great, theyre driving great, and no rubbing. Theyre pretty quiet. I had it off road this morning, nothing hard core, put it in 4 for a few, found some mud. The truck was good, tires were good, guns were good, weather was good, girlfriend was good. Good day today. Thanks for the advice and help guys. As always, comments / critiques welcome. -M

Straight bumper looks good. New tires look really good. Glad the little fiasco at the tire shop worked out for the better.

Plans to fill the holes in the bumper cover?
