Default 2008+ Replacement drivers seat

At 235,000 miles (not KM), my drivers side seat is tired of holding my fat *** up. Combined with my phone holster tearing the crap out of the seat back, I need to do something about my seat. I have the 8 way cloth power seat, and one of my switches is also dead (but the motor still works). I have Searched local junk yards for 2008 dakotas, but there are only a couple and the one seat that is still available is in worse shape then mine (broken drivers window + illinois weather). There are some available on Ebay etc, but the shipping is more than the part or they are not in much better shape than mine. Unfortunately, due to most retailer's marketing zeal "you might like this too", I am getting search results that are less than reliable. For example, I search amazon and the replacement seat cover they insist that is for my truck, the actual vendor says it does not. Given that my truck is 12 years old, I seem to have already passed the threshold of parts availability - not to mention that they never made many of these to begin with.

At very least, I need new foam and new covers, and the multifunction switch, but if I cant find the exact match to my existing grey cloth, then I am going to want to swap both. It also occurred to me that since Dodge LOVES to use the same part in multiple car lines whenever they can, there might be some cross referencing that could be done to widen my opportunities. In the same vein, I would not be opposed to upgrading to leather/heated/etc. from another vehicle like a Durango, if I could find a reference for what fits. Help?

Check Car-Part, you can search by part grade, distance, etc. Many listings have pictures, which is a huge plus. Search 05-11 Dakotas for the seats.

Also, an auto upholstery shop may be able to install a new cover and foam for it, they can do custom work for you. I have one local that I would trust to do the job.

Good Luck.

I replaced my 2011 seat with a 2005 powered base. Just unbolted the seat and bolted it on the new(old) powered base.
Cut the foam out for the switch and away I go. The reason I am telling this is because you could get any seat, powered or
not and make it work with what you have. I have not looked for the switch assembly but it "should" be available. Best of
luck to you.

I got a quote of 2K to recover my 2 front seats. in cloth. looked forever for complete seats and they were WAY to high + crazy shipping or the were in horrible shape. I finally bought Neoprene covers from coverking 250$ they fit like they should and finally my tore up seat looks acceptable!

Yeah, my local upholstery shop wanted about the same, and they didn't even offer lube or a happy ending...

I think the foam is still available for structure repair.

If you take the cover off yourself an upholstery shop should be able to copy it for WAY less. A family friend in high school worked in his parents auto upholstery shop growing up. Unless truly custom, they just took the OEM cover, cut the stitches and used the original pieces for the cut and sew patterns.

Rarely took them more than an hour per seat once the covers were off.

took mine and showed upholstery shop, said they would use my old one for templates still said 2k for for cloth and only front 2 seats. I live in a boating town and ALL upholstery shops only care about boat upholstery or antique cars ,$$$$$$$ screw the average guy!

There are a lot of other OEM material dealers out there too.

Order your own OEM fabric and find a local seamstress to copy it. I would never be paying a shop $2k to fix two seats in OEM cloth when I could do a whole leather interior for less.
