Installing auxillary lighting
Hello All!
Newbie here. I'm a firefighter up in Michigan and am three weeks into my 2006 Dakota Quad Cab. I have the V-6, TRX4 Off Road package. Need to hook up my siren, PA, lights and antennas.
Question 1 - My speaker is mounted on the cross brace, under the radiator. I need to pass the speaker and power wires from the engine compartment into the cab. Where is the best place to get through the firewall? Will drilling be required?
Question 2 - The lightbar and antenna are magnetic mounts, currently centered on the roof, between the B columns, with the wires running down between the doors. The light and siren control unit is floor mounted. Where is the best place to pass the wires (four coaxial cables) through to the cab?
Question 3 - I will be installing wig-wags (headlight and grille flashers), and plan to hook up my brake and back-up lights into the system ... ie. "A" circuit - left headlight, right halogen grille light, cargo light and back-up lights / "B" circuit - right headlight, left halogen grille light and all three brake lights on the B circuit. Will this pose any problems with the electrical system?
Will gladly accept answers here of directly at: Calgon1@Yahoo.Com
Thanks!

Not an answer for you, but rather a question... I'm volunteer EMS and can't find a wig-wag headlight flasher that I want to try to wire in. I was reading product literature for Sho-me (Able 2 Products) and they explicitly state that their products should not be installed on 2000+ Dalotas because it will damage the lighting module computer. So what are you going to install? Better yet, have you done the install and has it fried the vehicle electronics? Are you also using a tail/reverse light flasher? If so what brand/model. Thanks
