Default Quick question

Is there any markings on a transmission that tell you which one it is? Something easy to see I'm trying to match the 42RLE I have in my 2005 Dakota V6. Thanks in advance for any help anyone gives me.

545RFE transmissions have an identification tag on the left side of the transmission case, near the solenoid connector. Easily visible with no jacking or anything.

the 42RLE's have their tag on the upper left side of the bellhousing.

Thanks again this is going to make finding a new tranny in the junk yard a lot easier. Do you happen to know what else uses the 42rle in case I can't find a Dakota with one.

04-09 Durango had the same trans paired with the 3.7.

Try Car-Part, they will list parts from local and long distance junkyards. Sort by distance for closer results.
