I recently gave my son my old 2007 Dak 2wd, He has installed a 1.5" leveling kit in the front, the rear is stock height and the truck sits level. He recently purchased a set of 275/55/20 (31.9 x 10.8) Venom Terra Hunter X/Ts and a set of RBP 73R Atomic 20x9 wheels that have a offset of -12 and the backspacing is 4.53. We tried to install them tonight and are they hitting on the mud flap and front bumper at about 1/4 turn. was curious what size tire would we need to run with this offset? We are seeing if we can exchange for a set of 265/50/20 or maybe a different size if anyone can recommend??? I did find the Tire Size Thread Sticky its showing a (31.6 x 10.4) with little to no trimming, i wouldn't think that .3 on height and the .4 on width would make that much difference, but not really sure how that accurate that info is with rims that aren't factory offset and backspacing. Any help would be greatly appreciated as i am calling the company back tomorrow to get a Return Authorization would like to have this info handy when i talk to them,
Thanks in advance,
Joe

Are you using the same wheels as before or did you get new wheels too? If the offset is different, that will make a difference right off the bat.
That -12 offset is the major issue, and the 32" tire on only a leveling kit is another issue. Pushing the wheel out that far may cause the 265/50/20 sized tire to not fit either, at least without some cutting involved. My opinion, I would lose that wheel with that (too low) offset. That low offset creates a strain on the front end for which is was not designed for, and parts will wear quickly.
I had 20x9 wheels on a while go, but the offset was +19, which was perfect for our Dakotas, and fit 285/50/20 tires with only minor cutting needed, although I would rub on the front sway bar and frame at full turn. I ditched the 20s for 17s after a few years, and so glad that i did.
Hopefully, you'll get it sorted out soon enough.
Welcome Aboard.
Yeah was planning on keeping the same style wheel, they offer the same rim in a 0 Offset with a back spacing of 5 would that be better? He’s kinda dead set on this style rim.

A zero offset is slightly better, only being 1/2 inch better. I know a few members who have have run an offset of zero, usually on 16s or 17s though, and not sure of the tire sizes that they went with. You can try the zero offset with 265/50/20, there may be some plastic to trim, but maybe not.
It's tough to find aftermarket wheels, at least ones that I liked, with a good offset. Many aftermarket wheels do come with an offset of +18, but when I was looking, choices that I liked were very slim, so I understand. With the offset of +18, you could go with 285/50/20, but may need some minor trimming.
quick question, if he was to keep the current wheels and tires, which lift kit and/or body lift would be needed to run the 275/55/R20s that would allow for the offset?
If you add the 3" Performance Accessories body lift, that's the only way give the clearance needed. But with that offset, it's still unknown if trimming (A little or a lot) would be necessary. Maybe someone with the body lift can add some insight.
And to give you an idea on how the tires will sit, below is 20x9 wheels, with 285/50/20 on my truck. With your setup, you'll sit at a minimum 1.5" out further, possibly a bit more.
So we got it my sons truck done and back from the shop. Already had the 2" Supreme Suspension Spacer, so we ended up Installing a 3" PA Body Lift, that did it was enough to clear the 275/55/20s had to slightly trim the lower part of the bumper cover and the little ear tab inside the wheel well on the slash guard. But all in all turn out good. Think it might need a 1" block in the rear to level it up we will check after new rear shock install... Also had them Under coat the frame and the under side after the body lift was installed, Now to do this to mine think I'm going to run the same set up different wheels or just stick with factory 17s and run 285/70/17s....We will see.
