I drive an 05 dodge Dakota 6cyl 4wd I believe she may be a hurricaine sandy truck I bought her a month ago. Heres my issues.. so weeks ago a friend of mine replaced my brake line and after ward he put 17inch tires on the back of my truck and left the 16s on the front as I was driving the speedometer stuck at 10mph the abs and brake and check engine lights came on. I didn't like it so I had him remove the tires put on my old ones and I thought it would correct the issue mind you I already drove about 150 miles like that. So when we removed them all the lights remained lit up but my speedometer and mile gage stopped working my mileage being stuck at 138,783. So I did some reading on here and decided to change my abs speed sensor my neighbor replaced it but still my speedometer isn't working my mileage is still stuck at the same spot and my lights are still lit. I'm confused on why changing the abs sensor didn't fix the speedometer problem at least what could be going wrong with my truck can anyone help me or does anyone have any advice on what could be going wrong with it? Please let me know what y'all think or have had go on. I'm lost completely.

 

The vehicle speed sensor is on the rear axle atop the differential housing, right at the rear brake line stud. Is it possible that the speed sensor's electrical cable was somehow damaged or nicked during the brake line replacement?

 

I Was under the truck the only thing that looked damaged was the bracket/mount holding the brake line in place next to the speed sensor. But I can look again to see about that. I do think there's an electrical issue going on because my driver's side tail light is out and I replaced that and it still doesn't turn on but I'm checking that later today to see if it's loose. Also my trans temp light randomly pops on and when it does i shut off the truck and turn her back on and that light disappears. The trucks having an issue with starting in second gear Alot too but idk what I have to do for that yet. These are just a list of the things going on but with all this stuff going on she drives pretty good just the second gear and speedometer is starting to be an issue.

 

if you suspect your truck being from sandy, your forward control module is shot, gonna need to be replaced, this is the only thing that was never really sealed properly from factory and they all build corrosion inside.
