Default 06 Dakota R/T limp mode.

I see a few "limp mode threads" but I'm new here so I might as well make my own thread. 06 dakota R/T with 4.7 H.O. 119k miles. History unknown up to this point. The first time the problem occurred the transmission overheat light came on (wasn't running for 45 seconds before it come on.. Clearly a malfunction) and it give me 13 different codes, after one key reset engine light went off and it drove fine. Couple days later engine light came on again, I had 9 codes and In limp mode for the first time. turn truck off then back on and limp mode would go away but engine light stayed on. Showed P0882 (Transmission control module-power input signal low, I think that means low voltage) and the rest were transmission fluid pressure sensors. eventually went off again. Now it has stayed on the past few times I tried to drive it and shows 5 codes. PO882 and tranny fluid pressure sensors. It has never shifted hard or made noise when shifting. Fluid is at correct level but a little dark. Plan on changing as soon as I can either way. All fuses under hood are good and I tried swapping transmission control relay with another one to confirm it is good. Any ideas are appreciated.

Think I would go after the low voltage code first, as that would throw off everything else that depended on seeing correct voltage.

check your battery, even a bad cell will start wreaking havoc on the system

As superdak05 pointed out check battery first. Then have test done on your Alt. Might have to have it checked several times due to spiking or dropping the load may not show up for some time but that was what mine was doing.

I dont drive this truck alot, with that being said I also haven't found a solid solution yet. I've noticed it only throws the codes and goes into limp mode in the hotter parts of the year. Winter time and she runs great, no codes and no limp mode.

I have exactly the same problem. Mine also seems to be heat related. If I start up on a cold day I can run all over town making many stops and no limp mode. On a hot day if I drive 5 miles to the gas station it goes to limp when I restart with the CEL in less than half a mile. The dealer had me change many parts: battery, alternator, PCM... Somebody must know how to fix this problem. Help please.

Im having the same issues on a 06 Dakota SLT 4.7l AWD I just picked up. Very strange but identical to the issues described. Can’t find much info or people successfully diagnosing this problem online.. Have any of you managed to locate the problem and get your trucks fixed? I would love to hear some updates on your experiences!
