Default Hunting idle at start

I've already had the map sensor replaced, and the IAC valve replaced, and my idle still hunts when first started. I used to think only when cold, now it seems even warmed up. Does anyone have any ideas? Thank you in advance for any info.

Have you tried cleaning the throttle body?

I did a little when I had the air tube off, just at the throttle plate. Do you think a more thorough cleaning would help?

As long as the plate opened and closed easily and smoothly, then it should be working fine. Beyond that, I'd have to check the service manual to see if there was something in there that might help. There's a sticky in this forum where you can download the 2005 FSM. It should be basically the same for your truck.

I had a similar issue with my 4.7 Ram and changed the TPS - fixed it and a surging it sometimes had on the highway.

Make sure that any electrical sensors/parts you use are OEM, including the IAC. Aftermarket electrical stuff on these trucks have caused all sorts of headaches.

I 2nd that on the oem sensors.Especially 02 an iac,tps,map sensors .
Better to use one off another truck oem than brand new off brand.
