Default Code p0420, hissing noise, loss of power highway speed..

Hi, my name is Sam, any one in here can figure out what this noise is, I've checked right of the engine 4.7 driver side, I hear ticking noise at start more when the engine is cold, when the engine is hot the noise little bit less noticeable.. I'm getting code p0420, loss of power when pressing on gas pedal to get the highway speed around 62 mile/h combined with hissing noise, hissing noise also noticeable uphill, noise doesn't happen always, but it does happen..

My car 2008 dodge Dakota 4.7L

Millage 173000

No records of maintenance available..

Is clogged cat?

Lifter noise?

Rod bearing noise?

Misfire without throwing a code?

Piston slap?

Here is the url for the noise, check it out.. Let me know what noise is that..

Thanks for your thoughts..

p0420 - loss of catalyst efficiency - bank 1

Clogged cat, or failing cat.

as a temporary fix/test you can do a seafoam treatment. worked for me when i had a clogged cat which was due to a misfire. but if you cat is clogged for other reasons, chances are you will not be able to fix it with this. replacement cat will be required.

Had the P0420 code. 16 year old Dakota v8 had a large hole in the resonator after the cat. Changed the entire exhaust rusted out, cut it out and replaced them all. Easy job don't try to take off rusted pipes just cut it off.

I would check to see if you have a broken exhaust manifold stud. Common on the 3rd gens. Usually the bottom stud closest to the firewall.
