Lightbulb Club cab rear door handle cable ends AND 6.5" Speaker hole in club cab rear doors???

I had to take my rear doors apart to replace the ends of the Bowden cables for the handle because the plastic has disintegrated after 16 years and I wasn't able to open my back doors.

I figure out that Ford F150 Aluminum replacement Cable ends work PERFECTLY for the Club cab Dakotas rear doors cables. This is what I used
(The Oddly shaped one on the far right works perfect for the top latch end, you just push it through the hole and turn it to secure it, this way you don't have to completely disassemble the latch)

You just have to break away the old cable ends which were soft like candle wax and slip the new ones on. The handle end of the cables is super fiddly but not difficult.

On another note, While I had the rear door skins off I noticed there is a factory stamped 5.5" Hole with 3 dimples around the perimeter that looks like it was made for a 6.5" speaker.

I wanted to see if any of you folks had ever seen this before or know what if anything it was intended for.

Here is a pic from the parts catalog of the rear door. I don't have one of the inside of my doors.

I'm thinking seriously about cutting the holes out and adding some 6.5 inch component subwoofers to the doors.

Awesome info about the cable ends! I've had to deal with the disintegrating plastic and rear doors suddenly not opening several times when the cables slip off until I rigged the cables in place with zip ties...If that ever fails, I'll go with these.

Regarding the speaker cutouts in the rear doors, I discovered that my door shells have them as I was dynamatting the doors with the panels off. Didn't make use of them.
