Default Aluminum driveshaft.

I have a 2011 Dakota QC 4.7. I was wondering if they make a aluminum driveshaft for the 3rd gen Dakota?

My 2006 came with an aluminum driveshaft. Have you looked at yours?

They do make them. I bought a wrecked 2007 for parts that had an aluminum rear drive shaft. I believe it was Spicer brand.

According to rockauto.com, there are two sizes 69.375 and 73.375. Those are for trucks with 4wd/awd transfer case. I know the 2011 3.7l w/o 4wd has a two piece drive shaft, but have no idea about the 4.7l. If you have the 4.7l with 4wd, it will be one of those two measurements. One of the diagrams from Dorman shows the measurement being based on the drives haft being removed and measured end to end.

I have a 2011 QC 4.7 and the factory driveshaft is aluminum.

Mine is 2WD and came with the 3.92 gear. Did they put steel in some models for some reason?

I'm inclined to believe that most models have steel driveshafts.
My 2011 3.7l w/o 4wd is steel
I have 2x 2008 4.7l with 4wd, both with steel.
The 2006 4.7l with 4wd is steel.
The only one in my collection that had aluminium was the 2007 4.7l w/o 4wd, and that was an aftermarket part.
