Default Crankshaft position sensor wiring.

Hello.

The wiring from the crank shaft sensor is bare and shorted out on my 2006 Dakota.

It's too far up the harness to be able to cut and splice.
My question is where does the wiring exit up top of the engine compartment?

I've tried to push the wiring up from the bottom

but it won't go anywhere.

Thanks.

The wires go up about 12" to the wiring harness behind the engine, then over to the pcm. The pcm is located on the passenger side next to the firewall. They go to the third connector from the top. There should be room before then to splice in some new wire. The wire colors are pink/yellow, blue/green, brown/blue.

Thank you.

I have identified them and have them separated.

Would you happen to know which color goes to which pin on the crankshaft position sensor connector? Or a link to a diagram if possible.

Thank you so much.

When looking into the connector end with the clip release on the top, the right wire is the pink/yellow, the middle is blue/green, and the left is brown/blue.

Thanks for getting back to me.

I have a new harness ready to splice in at the PCM orange connector.

There are 2 Blue/Green wires in the bundle. One goes to the crankshaft position sensor and the other to the camshaft position sensor.

Would you happen to know the pinouts in the orange connector; that way I know which wire to cut for the crankshaft position sensor.

Thanks

Unfortunately I don't have the info. It was just by chance I had a 2006 engine sitting on the ground beside me when I saw your post. I'll make a call and see if I can get someone to poke around the wiring harness and figure it out. I think it might be a ground wire though.

There were able to get some info for me. There are two pink/yellow wires, both are 5v+ for the sensor. The two blue/green are sensor ground, and the last wire is the signal. As for which wire is for which sensor, I don't know.

I've rewired the crankshaft position sensor, did continuity checks first and matched wiring with pins and everything is fine.

Truck won't start right away, I have to turn in over a few times then sit a minute then it will crank over and run.

After about 20 seconds the check engine light comes on.

I have a P0335 error on my Foxwell OBD (Crankshaft position sensor A circuit) error.

It's a brand new sensor also. It's a Duralast brand.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

The consensus on the forums seem to indicate that only Mopar sensors work. I, along with others, have run into issues with new sensors that just don't work. The only known fix was an oem sensor. I will be going back out to work on the truck, so I can get an exact pinout for you to double check your work.

Thanks for getting back to me.

I just found an OEM Mopar on Amazon. Will be here on Tuesday. The Mopar site were showing back ordered.
