Angry 2007 V6 Will Not Start

Hi everyone, I am looking for some insight because I am not a mechanic. I have a 2007 quad cab with the 3.7L V6 engine. Two months ago, it stopped turning over so I put a new battery in it and that seemed to fix things for about 3 weeks. Then one morning I went to start it and got nothing again. I know it's not the battery because when I turn the key all systems are go, but all I hear is a single click under the hood and the engine will not turn over. Any help is greatly appreciated, thank you!

Sounds like you need a new starter.

When you changed the battery, did you check for any corrosion on the battey terminals? That would be a good place to start before buying any parts. There are plenty of videos and pictures on what to look for and how to treat it online.

I will look into it, that was my first thought. Others have mentioned something called a solenoid, should I look into that as well? Thank you for the reply.

The solenoid is just a large switch attached to the starter. When you turn the key to try and start, that click is the solenoid engaging. Corrosion can limit the current traveling to the starter, so the solenoid can engage, but the starter motor won't be getting enough power to turn. If there is no sign of corrosion, and the battery is fully charged, it may be time to look at replacing the starter motor. Rockauto.com is a good place to start looking for parts. And don't forget to Google for a discount code, there is no reason to pay full price.
