Reman motor break in oil
So I am moving along with the motor replacement on my 08 Dakota. This motor is a factory reman from Mopar that was completed in 2020. So now that I have most of the components swapped and am about ready to put this sucker in, I am thinking of what I should do before firing it up for the first time since it has been sitting so long. Mind you, the motor has been sitting in its original crate. wrapped in plastic, and not a spec of surface rust anywhere.
Might first question is what oil should I use for the first run and what would be the best break in procedure. I have already gone through about a dozen full revolution cycles turning the crank by hand before putting the oil pan on to make sure everything was still loose and noting was seized. Turned nice and free. My first thought is while I have it out for the vehicle, I would fill the oil filter with oil, add the proper amount to the crankcase, temp bolt on the starter and crank it without and plug in it. Was also thinking about getting a manual oil pressure gauge and connect to the oil pressure port, and get some oil through it without any load. Once I see some pressure, I will stop the starter and put the electronic sensor in and proceed to install the motor.
Any specific break in oil needed for this?
Thanks..

I haven't rebuilt an engine in about 20-25 years. Back then, synthetics were available but you didn't use them on the initial break in period because they were too slick and the rings wouldn't seat properly. Is there an installation manual with the engine? I'd use what ever Mopar says to use on break in.
The last engine I rebuilt used a quart of oil the first 50 miles and not a drop for the next 25,000. I ran the break in oil for 200 miles with large ceramic magnets taped to the oil filter to catch any small ferrous particles as flash from machining then changed it and the filter and filter. I ran another 500 miles at various speeds then changed the oil again. After that, every 3000 miles on oil changes.
In the last 25 year a lot has changed. I'd go by the installation manual. I'd still tape large magnets to the filter just in case.
