Purge valve problems
I've been having this problem for awhile. Try to fill the gas tank, pump clicks off. I manually pull the hose off the purge valve under the hood and the tank fills fine.
I purchased a new purge valve recently, did not fix the problem. I tested the valve by manually applying voltage and it operates. Blew through the hose that goes to the throttlebody, getting resistance (pressure) that will slowly bleed off. If I open the throttle plate there is no resistance.
Any ideas?

Filled up my tank last night, unable to check for voltage, but valve was closed. Had to pull the hoses off to refuel. Taking a look at the manual - The purge valve is to evacuate the charcoal canister while running. I see that theres supposed to be a vent on the charcoal canister for refueling. Maybe I need to look there.

I haven't fixed this, but have found that if I seal off around the pump nozzle and tank fill by holding pressure on that big rubber grommet on the nozzle ---- it fills fine. Possibly the extra pressure is helping open the vent.
I have heard that under certain conditions the evap valve can fail and cause similar issues. Usually after continuously overfilling the tank. The valve is designed for vapor only, but overfilling can introduce fluid that can cause damage. Dropping the tank to get to it can be a pain. I've had a better time taking the box off to get access to the top of the tank to disconnect the hoses and wiring while lowering it.
