Default Seat belt chime! 😡😡😡

Hello all, new to the forum.

I’ve looked through the forum and have seen similar questions, but mine is slightly different, I believe.

Last year, for my ‘05 quad cab V8 Dakota, my seat belt chime started to malfunction and chime past the “click”. I researched and found the disconnect solution with the repetitive clicking/unclicking. That worked perfectly…for about a year.

Nowadays, I’ll start my truck, and after pulling away and driving, it’ll start chiming. It will chime in sets of three, for twelve sets, then stops on it’s own. UNLESS, I come to a stop before the twelve sets are completed.

Has anyone else experienced THIS madness?

Thanks in advance! James

Have you inspected the wires going to the latch under the seat? It’s pretty common the wires get cut by the seat track or pulled out of the latch.

I’ve read that on one of the other posts and will inspect it on my next day off. Thanks!

Pretty common. I just tied the wires together.

So, I did find a loose wire but it’s right below the housing. I may be able to reattach it, but may be easier to just replace it

If you want to continue having the chime, yes. Otherwise, pull the other wire out and short them together.
