Default H13/9008 Headlights-Silverstar

I e-mailed Sylvania about the Silverstar's for our headlight bulb, the H13/9008. Below is their response.

Thank you for your inquiry. Currently, there are no plans to offer part
9008/H13 in a SilverStar upgrade. We have received many requests for this part in a SilverStar upgrade, but because of the current government guidelines, we are unable to develop this part in a SilverStar. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) wrote it into this part's specification that this bulb capsule must remain a clear quartz glass. Part of upgrading a part to SilverStar is coating the capsule with an amethyst colored enamel. NHTSA has specified that we cannot do this with this part. We are currently appealing this standard through NHTSA, but it will still take us approximately one year to develop and launch this part in SilverStar.

This part is currently only available in the standard format and as part of the XtraVision product line. The XtraVision would offer the standard color of light; however, it has been through a filament redesign which takes the light that would get lost as it goes up into the darkness and focuses it back downward to the shoulder and foreground area of the vehicle. The H13XV will provide approximately 20% more useable light than their stock counterparts. These bulbs can be obtained from stores such as Tire Warehouse, Pep Boys, AutoZone, and Checkers. If you are unable to obtain it locally, you can try Action Products at 800/892-9657. They are one of our master distributors, and they should be able to sell this part to you via the telephone. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any other questions.

I love the SilverStars as well. Seems odd that the NHTSA would pitch a bitch over these when the line is offered for eveything else! Oh well, maybe save up for a HID setup.

I have a pair. They are going to be hard to find, because the Ford Mustangs and F150's take the same bulb and I had to go to four different places before I found one pair. The last pair in El Paso!

They are available for our trucks. I just got mine at a local Autozone in central NJ $20 per bulb. Go get 'em.

I replaced the original headlight bulbs with XtraVisions it was definite improvement over stock, what really bothers me the local ricer wannabee in his Scion runs some of those high wattage blue bulbs,Don't want pass him going the other way they're blinding,I can't believe DPS= (the state police) or the sheriff hasn't gave him a talking to.

the Xtravisions are nowhere near as bright as the silverstars. I think they are listed as OEM replacements.
