Stripes?
BTW, on the Viper you could've gotten Black stripes on Yellow
And in 2002, the last year for the GTS Coupe...."the final edition" ones came in Red with White Stripes:

Just trying to give you an idea of what the color looks like.

Personally, if it were my ride I would go with black with the silver outline, but keep in mind it is personal preference in the end. Don't rush into it. I saw the picture of the Viper with silver stripes but that is a whole different animal. Silver stripes look major cool on that beast.
I'm gonna say no on the black with silver stripes
Just do one color & keep it simple.
If you did like on that Neon then you're making it harder. You'd either have to do 2 layers of vinyl stripes, a layer of (wider) silver & then another (thinner) layer of black over it to get that affect.
OR you'd have to run small pinstriping vinyl against the edge or on top of the black stripe and that would be hard to do. Not to mention that if you were washing or waxing your truck and hit the thin vinyl....you could peel it off easily and screw it all up...u know??
It's definitely your truck.....so it's your final decision.
But on the previous generation of Dakotas.....the "Sports" that were flame red and came with the black decals & black trimmed bumpers (I had a '99 waaay long ago)......it just didn't look right. If the decals were silver...would've look sweet. Just the black on the Dodge Flame Red doesn't look that great.
Play with Photoshop and put some stripes on a red 05-06 Dakota.
I guess the real question is where you would start/stop the stripes....that is what can make or break how they look. Like bumper to bumper sometimes looks okay or sometimes it ruins the look of the car.
Sometimes just starting on the hood and ending before the bumper (like on the 2002 35th anniversary Camaro SS & on Chevy Extreme S-10 & Blazers) looks awesome.
So the black stripes probably would look good, but I just wouldn't go bumper to bumper with them....figure out a different way.

Again, it's YOUR truck
But I would think about going from the hood grille to the beginning of the back bumper with a curved end stripe.
Kind of like how the S-10 Extreme racing stripes were on those trucks
Bumper to bumper might look kind of funny & it'll be hard to do on our front bumper (indentations) & the grille, and I don't think it'd look right on the bumper (just end it on the bottom of the tailgate is what I mean)
