Great info on the TSB! Thanks! I'm going in to have the recall taken care of so I will have this done as well.

Thanks again. I took her in for the recall and the TSB. They pushed back a bit on the TSB but "got approval from Chrysler" to perform the TSB under warranty so everything is good!

How can they "push back" on a TSB? What argument did they try to give you? I'm curious because I'm wondering whether or not to go in to the dealer with future (printed out) TSBs, or just play dumb and describe the problem that's in the TSB and not mention the fact that I have the actual TSB paper. I'm sure they prefer that TSBs stay quiet. On the other hand, if it's a documented defect, dont they HAVE to service you with no hassles?

He said something to the effect the TSB was removed due to a recall that addressed it. I told him the only recall I'm aware of is the one I brought to him for the lights/wipers/radio issue which indicates nothing about the tranny. I also pointed out that the drivetrain was still under warranty anyway. I immediately felt I was getting bull**** and shut him down pretty quick. They covered the repair and two days of car rental. $0 cost to me so I'm happy.

Ok. It got pretty cold tonight. When I started up the Dakota and took off I got the same high rpm rev and very little power for a second before she grabbed. I guess it's just something I have to live with.

Do you people warm your truck up before you drive them. If not there's your problem get the truck to operating temp. (It called that for a reason) a cold motor/ tranny is not good to drive on, your taking alot of life out of the truck.

I'm definitely taking your advice on the warm up. My *** ache is that I've never had to do this back to my 71 Ford Torino. The tranny would always respond and engage immediately. Even if it wasn't warmed up.

That doesnt sound normal to me. Ive never heard of a tranny acting this way at cold startup. Given Dodge's transmission record, I wouldnt take any chances, and push for that bulletin repair or whatever they do.

monkey,

I looked at the receipt and it indicates they replacement the tranny filter, etc per the TSB. That's why I'm confused I still have the problem. I thought the TSB said the filter prevented tranny fluid from getting where it needs to which is why it required a different filter.

???????

Maybe the new filter doesnt have the problem, probablly the little rubber blow-by valve in the fitlers were bad or somthing. Either way though, dont listen to letting you engine warm up and that being normal. Once an engines idle drops to normal in the cold, which is like 30 seconds your good to go. If your waiting a long period of time so your auto tranny isnt slipping in first gear this is not normal lol.
