Default XM with stock head unit?

Ok folks bear with me on this one.

I got the truck used, so I am "assuming" that is capable of receiving Sirius based on information I have read. I don't have Sirius, nor do I have an antenna on the truck for it. I am guess that head unit "could" receive a satellite signal, but none of the additional "stuff" was installed (tuner & antenna).

Could I purchase an XM tuner and antenna and use it on the stock head unit? I don't care too much for the Roadie or the SkiFi, and don't really want to purchase a new head unit either.

I am leaning towards Xm as wife already has it in her Accord and I don't really want to pay for tow full subscriptions (Xm and Sirius).

Am I kinda close here or way off base???

thanks

I dont think you can get sirius without the 6 disc/mp3 capable cd player and even then only the mopar part #82208881AA will fit to it which is like $150, + installation kit which is another $150.
That being said i think you can get Sirius/XM/whatever kits that adapt to your car stereo no matter what going to a modulated frequency (goes to your antenna so all you need is an antenna adapter) and all you have to have is an external display, but still reuires you to buy that whole kit which can range in price from what ive seen from $50 to $200, but luckly an extra radio is only an extra $7 a month on XM

I have the 6 disc cd player (I guess it is MP3 capable) but I doubt I have the Sirius receiver (#82208881AA).

Seeing as how this is the missing part and making the assumption that the readio is "satellite ready" why not buy an XM receiver? Along with the installation kit, I am pretty sure that it will cost about the same, but like you said, an additional radio is only going to be about 7 bucks and I would rather not pay full rate for another system.

thanks

I think the player is only equiped for sirius and not XM so if you were to buy a reciever youd have to get something like:
http://www.cardomain.com/item/DELSA10101 along with the vehicle kit with antenna and then youd be set.
