4x4 Beach Permit (NYS)
Just purchased a New York State 4x4 "Fishing Permit", which allows you to take the truck onto the beach at specific designated areas for the purpose of surf-casting only. Truthfully, I bought it simply to get the truck into the sand and try it out. But I'm sure I will give the fishing a try too, as I am in Long Island and I'd be stupid not to. Anyways, here's my point to this post:
You need to have with you:
- fishing pole(s) for any person 12 or older, complete with line, bait, lures, tackle
- jack w/ jackboard
- portable toilet
- air compressor or quick disconnect hose for a compressor
Not sure how many, if any, Long Islanders are on this Forum. I'm curious to see who else has such a permit in different areas and what you guys can do with your trucks. I'm especially curious to see how the Dakota does in the sand. So far I pulled my truck into the the beach about 1/4 mile, and it took some horsepower to push it thru, but that was without airing down. It was pretty wild to be sitting about 5 feet away from where the waves were crashing though!
