Alright, what gives??? (mpg?!?!)
(just remembered you have a 4x4)
So considering you have a 4x4 AND a V-8......that's frickin' awesome mileage!!
You gotta remember too that you have 2 sets of gears....one in the rear differential & also a set in the front differential so that'll affect your final drive ratio as well.
Whereas if you only had a 2 wheel drive.....it's only that final drive ratio in the rear diff.
And like Pepperhead said.....the EPA estimates on all vehicles is bull****. They do the freeway test at 45mph to come up with the Highway number on the sticker!!!
They're supposed to be changing the way they test the vehicles soon though to get more "real world" numbers

Hey Frenchy, from my experience for correct mileage, you should hit the reset button when you get on the highway and then see what it average's just on highway. Around town do the same if your just in town driving for a while or few days...it's more accurate after it gauges for a while after a reset. Or for average for a tank of gas, of course let it go with out reseting. Just a thought from my observations with my Dakota. Later...
My truck gets really bad miliage. I just bought mine and towed about 3500lbs from washington dc to Austin TX. I only got about 13.4 around 60mph. Now with no trailer I am only gettin about 14.6. I dont get it. I now have 2100 miles on it. I hope I didnt hurt anything pulling with a new truck. I called Dodge and they said there wouldn't be a problem unless I went over the raited amount. I hope it picks up. My last SUV didnt get decient mpg until 15k so I hope it is the same with this one. It really struggled in the hills of VA sometimes I was down to 45mph at 4500-5000 rmp to make it up hills. Over all I think it pulled ok. It is a 4.7 QC 2x4.
Also noticed that when I put it in gear when it is hot I hear a slight grinding noise, is that common in the daks? I have an appt to get the oil changed and may mention something to them about the noise. Other than that loving the truck. I should also mention I have a lead foot. Funny no one noticed my new truck in the land of BMWs and Benzs (DC) but here in TX I get alot of complements on it. I just tinted the windows and ready to start getting alot of ad ons.

I'll let ya know in a week or two when mine shows up. It'll be a 4.7 V8 with the 6sp. Only mine'll be a 4x2 though. Finally getting rid of this problematic Canyon. My Dakota should be waiting for me when I get back from vacation!
I have a 05 CC 4X4 V8. I just took a trip down to Tennesee [sp] which was about 300 miles one way. My highway speed was set at 73mph and I was cranking just under 2000 rpm's. I got 18.8 mpg going down and coming back. I saw a dramatic increase in gas mileage when I put an AirRaid intake and a tonneau cover on the bed.
