Relocating iat sensor
pull out the sensor very carefully for it is fragile. if you removed the complete air unit you would have had to remove sensor and install in same opening. but if i remember you bought the intake tube. if you are looking at the frt of your motor it would be on the drivers side at the middle of the box. this is the sensor.remove and splice in 14 gauge wire and move it into the air tube. you might have too get a rubber groment first. if you replaced the whole air unit one would have come in the kit. you have twoo sensors connecting to the tb. one is for the gas the other for trans. you are correct the one thats about an inch in frt.
I'm with Frenchy, I am interested in this mod, but I would like to get a better idea with a pic or two to see how this looks, and maybe a couple of numbers i.e. (MPG and HP) to go with it.
i just filled up cost me 62.00 went 360.0 mile and put in 20.18 gallons of gas. about 18 miles to the gallon. soon as i upload my pics i will show you the original hole in the k/n 77 series and the after mod were it sits in the filter or for people who just want to drill another hole. but be carefull because the intake tubes are fragile. here is a cheap diagram
~~~~~~~~~~~
!
/////// ------------------------------------------------ !
filter () () groumont hole for sensor
////// ----------------------------------------------- !
after market hole for sensor ! throttle body
that has to be drilled ~~~~~~~~~~~
by removing the sensor from the hole closet to the throttle body and moving it closer to the filter sensor will pick up cooler air from outside engine instead of warmer air on top of engine.this will adjust your air fuel mixture for performance and milage gains
