Just got my 06 Dakota SLT 4x4 yesterday. There is an Aux Audio Input on the front of the radio. The salesman told me it was to plug in ipods. I found nothing in the owners manual. Can anyone shed some light? Thanks!

 

ipods and m3 players. you shouls have gotten 3 manuals with the truck. if not go back to the dealer and get the one with all the extra application the truck comes with. i had to because i needed to set up my home link.

 

just go over to radio shack and get a wire that has 2 headphone jacks on each side and plug one end into you mp3 players headphone jack and the other into the radio and presto works like a charm.

 

aux inputs on car head units have gotten more popular due to ipods...


you can hook anything to it that outputs an audio signal..

laptop, 2 turntables and a microphone, any mp3 player, a cassette player(hi tech), gameboy, psp, etc...

 

I am so angry that they decided to add the aux input on the 06's, since I bought an 05
That was the one thing that I wanted when I bought the truck. I dont really feel like spending $75 to get one in mine either..

 

What costs 75$? The new '06 single disc radio?

Same here, I want one of those $75 2006 factory head units for my 05 so I can plug my XM roadie into it like on my old Titan. Would an 06 factory head work with the upgraded Infinity sound system and steering wheel controls on an 05 or would they no longer work? Does the electronics in them match up I guess is what I'm asking, not a stereo person so sorry if it's stupid question.

I think he is basing the $75 dollars off what it would cost to buy one via eBay or someone like myself.

 

Had a cable in my spare computer parts box. Hooked one end to the ipod, other to the radio and it worked like a charm. Also got 1 year free Sirius and it is great too. Thanks for the help.
