I bought an '05 this last January. I have the HO V8 and to-date no mechanical issues at all. The only thing I can think of is a rattle behind the dash and a slight rattle in the headliner when off-road (what do you expect?). Other than that love this truck and I too plan on having her a while.

What is with all the problems with the 05 and 06 dakota's, i never had or seen a new model with so many problem's, brakes, suspension, engine, interior, recalls, TSB's i mean damn, does chrysler know about all the problems with the 05 and 06, what i wanna know is who in the hell built these freakin piece's of crap you call a truck, i remember something my salesmen told me, it was about the warranty on the 06, they were'nt having problems with there vehicles so they done away with all the warrant they use to offer, boy did they call a smart one yeah right, damn am i glad i got a 05, i feel sorry for you guys with the 06 if you start having problems, what has to happen for them to wake up and smell the coffee and realize they designed and built a piece of junk.My truck did that stuttering again the other day like it was gonna die, i hit the gas and it went away, like this problem what the hell is up with this, no codes coming up and nobody really knowing what the problem is, im sure there will be a TSB soon well hopefully sorry just venting lol, is there somebody we can write to that will listen to us!!!
I have the same issue as you do with it wanting to die but in my case it does die, took it in twice for service and all they are gonna do is hook it up to the scanner and if there aren't any codes your lucky if they try and do anything else. Maybe if enough 05-06 owners have this problem one of them will get a dealership that is able to fix it and let the rest of us know. Other than the stalling and the weak 4.7 I like the truck, it rides good and I got 20 mpg out of it this last fill up.

Those of you that have repeated problems I want to strongly recomend researching your local/state lemon law to see if it applies in your case.

Luvmydak reporting in on my '05 Dak. After 18 months, problems to report: none, nada. Sorry to hear some members have had issues. My Dak running better than than the day I drove it off the lot thanks to a few mods I have done: K&N cai, Stage II Jet Chip w/180 t'stat, Flowmaster cat-back exhaust so far. Next mod coming up, performance throttle body from the Fastman. As advised previously t.b. spacers are of absolutely no value. Save up for a modified throttle body from the Fastman.

I'm not here to hear people whine (and I'm sure 99% of the other active users of this forum feel the same way). People can complain, or better yet, ask a question pertaining to a problem, and someone who can help them will help them to the best of their ability.

Believe me, I'm not kissing 2coff's ***. We're not some kind of "buddies," I just agreed with his post, and I felt that you took it the wrong way.

No, I don't understand the problems you have had with your Dakota, which appears to be a lemon of some sort. I do, however, know what it feels like to buy stuff that just seems to never work, or at least work right. I must say, my Dakota is about the first thing I've ever bought that has worked pretty damn good (and for a 10 year old truck, you would think I'd be fixing things left and right).

Well, at least your not going to buy a Canyon/Colorado play-truck.

I'm not harassing you, I'm stating facts, which I would do no matter who you are.
I'll post replies when I feel a reply is needed. I do what I want.

You sound like a lil bitchy school girl!!! If you dont like my post's dont read them, get a life and move on, if any of it's whining it's more bitchin about the truck than anything because there is money involved, and you keep forgeting that, can you blame people and that's what forum's are for freedom of speech dummy, if people are whining dont read the post's, nobody is forcing you to be a dick head and post a reply about them whining, it's always people like yopu ruining a good thing, you dont seem mature for ur old age.
