New Dakota Goin Down Hill!!!
What is with all the problems with the 05 and 06 dakota's, i never had or seen a new model with so many problem's, brakes, suspension, engine, interior, recalls, TSB's i mean damn, does chrysler know about all the problems with the 05 and 06, what i wanna know is who in the hell built these freakin piece's of crap you call a truck, i remember something my salesmen told me, it was about the warranty on the 06, they were'nt having problems with there vehicles so they done away with all the warrant they use to offer, boy did they call a smart one yeah right, damn am i glad i got a 05, i feel sorry for you guys with the 06 if you start having problems, what has to happen for them to wake up and smell the coffee and realize they designed and built a piece of junk.My truck did that stuttering again the other day like it was gonna die, i hit the gas and it went away, like this problem what the hell is up with this, no codes coming up and nobody really knowing what the problem is, im sure there will be a TSB soon well hopefully sorry just venting lol, is there somebody we can write to that will listen to us!!!
I had some severe problems with my drums when I first had it back around september of last year, and also had a dumb caliper freeze on me. The dealer I bought it at replaced the caliper, no problems since; then the drums were acting up more and more. I took it in 3 times before I went to another dodge dealer and they were like "Your drums are warpped". So they fixed that and it's been better since when braking off of the freeway, I don't get that horrible shaking anymore. But when I'm braking if i hit a bump in the road it'll like pull my drums out of alignment, and make a horrid noise. Though when I start back up again it doesn't do it after that. I don't know, all I know it was dumb to keep drums in the rear of the truck, so I'm someday going to spend the money to convert them to rotors, which I've heard is something like $3400, sheesh too expensive right now.
by the way, I just had to add on, I still enjoy my dakota nonetheless and plan on keepin my baby for many years, at least 10.

1.5 years 12,000 miles and not one problem what so ever is been a perfect truck in every way. And on forums of any car make you will hear of tons of problems, because thats all anyone writes about is to complain something broke.
Dude i had a S-10 that had only one problem and my girlfriend's car had 200,000 plus on it and even in a accident hardly any problem's, my 04 dakota didnt have all the problems when it was new, and it was a strip down model, had some options but no laramie, this a new model that was thought about long and hard and built(should of skipped that procedure) and they did a **** poor job, so dont tell me that all makes of vehicle's are experiencing ton's of problem's, are you apart of all these forum's or you just know because your mr. know it all, don't come in here talking smack about problem's until you experience some mr. i have a perfect truck because i drive it like a girl, you should'nt of said nothing now your brakes are gonna go then ur computer, axle's, front suspension and more, better find a real piece of hard wood to knock on.
Wow I didn't know some of these problems exsisted and after reading a few posts I never thought too much about the fact that my dakota has the little engin stutter while idling. I just excused it as having too low an idle rpm and was racing to keep runin.
Their are recalls on the 05 dakota?

Same here. I got my 05 dak used with 13,000 miles on it, i beat the crap out of it the first month or so, now i have 22's on it and i dont have even a hint of brake problems, more rotational mass my butt. i love the truck, its got *****, it has style, what more can you ask for? im sure id be singing a different tune if i was one of the unlucky ones but im not and i feel for you that got shafted on your daks. like the guy with his brakes, ouch.

You know, I don't know about the V6 dakota or V6s in general, but I can say that almost every V8 vehicle i've driven has some sort of shaking or stutter when at low RPMs. The abnormal stuttering is when it makes noise and/or dies on you, like mine used to do, which was causes by a drain on my alternator because I had a ground wire hooked up on the wrong place.

Heck, I was at a Chevy forum the other day, asking about something to do with my bosses truck, and about the #1 topic there was A/C's blowing warm (not cold) air. The main problem: the cars are all about 5-10 years old, and have never had extra refrigerant put in, what would seem like a problem up front, is really just normal.
With that said, every vehicle built is differant. This is why there are 1 in a thousand (or whatever the odds are) that are lemons. You can take 1,000 vehicles, some will last longer than ones EXACTLY LIKE THE OTHERS. Thats just how it is.
It just seems you got a bad one of the bunch. While I feel sorry for you, there are avenues you can take to get rid of it. You can trade it in and trade down for a Colorado, and get one of their crappy motors, hope you don't get one that breaks down on ya (we had a guy looking at a new Dakota because his '05 Canyon was dying: major engine problems GM knew about).
Anyways... in summary, the vast majority of the new Dakotas (99%) run perfectly fine no matter what they throw at it, so, coming here and just whinning to whine will not solve anything.
