INSTALL FINALLY DONE!
I finally complete my stereo install last night. A few lessons learned. There aint crap for room in the Dak QC for mounting amp(s) and sub. The HU installs very easy. Running wires for speakers, power, and RCA's is a PITA! And building a sub box to fit these things is also a PITA! Also learned that you really need a table saw or at least use a guide on your skill saw. But overall I'm happy with the way things turned out. I think the SoloBaric is a truly an SPL sub and not suited for a sealed box. My box is approx .5cf w/no polyfil and it is boomy as hell. I tried it half stuffed. Quarter stuffed. And it's currect config of none. Same ole same ole. Not real sharp. But man does that thing pound for a little 8"! I may build another box for it in a .33cf config which Kicker says is for SQ and see how that turns out. Have half a sheet of MDF still. If this doesn't work out I'm pulling the left rear seat and putting a 10" in there. But here are some pics of the install that started on July 4th.
What you see is: Kenwood 5032 HU, Profile AP600 100x2 rms @4ohm comp amp powering Phoenix Gold ZR6.5's on the right of the pic, Profile AP700M 350 w rms@2ohm on the lft of the pic, my ghetto box. Ghetto because most of the panels don't completely match up. But it is sealed good. I caulked everything inside and outside real good and let it dry for 2 days.

Yea it was along the same style as John Moore did with his 2002 Dak. Could have squeezed out a little more internal space if I used 1/2"MDF like he did instead of 3/4". The front seats vibrate like a **** when that little sucker hits. The funny part of the whole thing was the paint. Got 2 cans of gray primer and 2 cans of what I thought was flat gray. Turned out it was aluminum when I sprayed it. Had to go back for more and ended up with gloss gray. That box has 2 coats of primer. One coat of aluminum. And 2 coats of gloss gray. Matches the interior pretty good. And thanks for the compliment. Not bad for my very 1st install and box build.
