Dodge is a fool if they do not eventually offer a Hemi in the Daks. And it doesn't have to be an SRT either. Also surprised they haven't tried to stuff a deisel in one. Thjink that would be a hot seller as well. JMO

I put money away for this actually, going to be dropping a HEMI in my dakota in the next 2-3 years after my 2-year CD matures at the bank. I think it was a bad idea to release a dakota R/T without a bigger engine in it, just some fancy decals and a hood scoop, big deal so it looks fast. If people talk about it enough though, Dodge might offer it eventually, but I'm not counting my chickens before they hatch. One thing i know for sure is if they did that, they would definately own the competition with the ability to turn off half the engine at cruising to save gas.

Also, I have a K&N Aircharger with flowmaster 40 single output and get about 16mpg at 65% hwy.

Some pics of the Topper. The green thing in the back seat area is the Alpine Soundbox. Total factory watts 508. I don't have time to install my own system or have one put in.
Sound great! Best factory sound system I ever heard. Just a thought, make the 4.7 a Hemi. 5.3 short block with MDS and 350 HP. Hell Nissan is getting 305 hp out of its short block without Hemi heads.

You mean small block...right? The HEMI is already a small block. I think making HEMI with less displacement is the only chance the Dakota has of getting one. Problem is it was hard enough for them to make the one they have now emissions legal. [:'(]

I'm dating myself. We use to call small blocks short blocks and large displacement engines long blocks. The 426 cid was a long block. The 340 cid was a short block. In any case, I can see Hemi head engines being adapted to existing blocks because the do run very efficient by making more power in the way it burns fuel. Emissions will work its way out of the lab. One of the best Toyota engine series where the 20r and 22r series. They where four bangers with a Hemi head. You never know what’s coming from the lab rats.

Generally, a "short block" is an engine assembly lacking heads; it mostly consists of the block, crank, pistons and rods along with the bearings, rings, etc. A "long block" is a short block with heads installed; often the camshaft and timing chain as well (and sometimes more; valve covers, oil pan, etc.) The displacement doesn't matter to either term.

I would be very surprised to see a Hemi in the current generation of Dakota. After looking at 5.7 and 4.7 Durango engine compartments and comparing them to a Dakota, I think Dodge's claim that the Hemi does not fit is competely valid.

I was reading in another forum that a Titan guy had his keyless entry integrated with his topper lock. Is that possible with the one you have? Could you post a pic from the back with your tailgate and topper open?
