Default So I got a question about the lowering shackles.

Ok, so I got my lowering shackles today from my friend, (he ordered them and had them shipped to his house while I was in Canada), ANYWAYS.... I am going to hang out with a different friend tomorrow who does a **** ton of work on ALL vehicles..... and I was wondering what type of tools I need to do this task, and approximately how long it will take to do it.

Thanks all!!

And hey!!

I'M A MODERATOR!!!!! :-)

hey, i put mine in, in less than 1 hour. you will need a 55 mm torks socket for the top bolts. if you dont have one they are fairly cheap at the parts store.raise up vechicle and rest on jack stands. i did not remove the shocks at all. simply put jack under meatball and releived the tension to remove stock shackles. when installing shakles put top in first. also look at the shakles they should be offset a little from one another. by looking at rear of truck then make sure the shakles flow away from each other thats how you determine left to right. top hole is 1.75 drop middle hole is 1.25 drop.

I heard someone say they ended up buying new bolts to reinstall the shackles. Did this happen?

Arent you the same guy that bent his frame mudding? Now you are lowering it? I wonder if your bent frame is going to cause you problem when you lower it. I believe you have to get an alignment when you lower. I often ask myself what has frenchy done to his truck this week, lol! Well post pics dont think I've seen a lowered 3gen yet.

Hahah... ya. I went mudding one time. That's the only time I ever planned on going mudding with it. And the truck still handles well and everything. And all I am lowering is the rear end to level it off. The alignment is slightly off. But I really haven't had time to go and get it checked.

no i did not replace my bolts, they were still too new. if you have trouble with the bolts then replace them, mine came off no trouble.

Our new "mod" can't even install lowering shackles!?!?!?!? (it's just a couple bolts & a simple swap)

OK, so that DIDN'T work. What do I do now????

I have only the top bolt holding on the stock shackle.

It's impossible to get that thing off... at least for me.
