Default New to the board

Hi all, just bought a 2006 Dakota. I also just sold a Honda VTX 1800. They had a great board. Wish this one had one for chat and one for tech. It worked out great. Its a lot nicer to hear about the good things when you want, and when you have a problem you also have a place to go. Just being a newb on here , I'm a little worried I might have made a mistake getting a Dakota. I sure like it so far! All 59 miles! Hope I got a nice truck.

Steve

Blu_Dak,

The Honda VTX 1800 is a motorcycle. What year was the bike Steve? Don't read to much into the negative things some people say about the new Daks on this board. I bought my 05 Dak used with 14K on it, I now have 21k on it with several performance and appearance upgrades with no problems at all. Some people just got a bad apple. It sucks and I feel for them cause I would never want that to happen to me but just sit back and enjoy your new truck and if a problem arrises then you can worry about how you're going to fix it. Got any plans as far as mods go? Are you gonne leave the truck stock or are you gonna make some changes to it?

Welcome Mantis!
I currently have 16k on my '05 Dakota. Had 120k on the '02 I traded. Had no major problems with either.
There is a Dakota specific forum, that I prefer for info, do a search. It is worth the membership fee.

Thanks for the welcome! I got rid of my Honda VTX due to Katrina. With all the rebuilding going on in New Orleans the traffic got crazy. These foreign workers drive like idiots. I knew it was just a matter of time before I got nailed. As far as mods, I've ordered every parts catalogs I could find. I guess the first thing will be a bed liner. Not sure to go with Rhino liner or a conventional liner. Cant wait to start fixing it up. I want it to look nice sitting next to my Dodge Challenger in 2008.

I was going to go with a Rhino lining on mine but our Moderator, Frenchy swears by his Line-X. What color is your truck?

Its Inferno Red. I could have got the Night Rider package...(something like that)... but I remember how hard black is to keep up. When clean I love black, but after the hurricane it would have been to much work to keep clean under these road conditions.
