Tires - Who would YOU go with?
Personally, I have always been a fan of the BF Goodrich All-Terrain TAs. I still have the factory (and most have said POS) Goodyear Wrangler's on there, which I find just plain ugly. After another year of tire-wear on my '05 Dakota, I'm gonna make the change.
Has anybody here switch to a larger size tire on the original 16" rim? How about tire brands ?

I suppose it depends on where and how you drive. For me, the BFG All-Terrain KOs wouldn't be a great choice, since 99% of my driving is on-road.
I'd probably get either the BFG Radial Long Trail T/A or the Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo. I had a set of the Radial Long Trail T/As on my old Ranger, and was super satisfied- long wear, good traction, low noise, etc... A buddy has the Bridgestones, and is very happy with them also.
I do agree that the stock el-cheapo Goodyears suck... my brother's old Ram had some, and they were horrible- more horrible than the Dakota ones, which is saying something!

got to go with the firestones. that way when the tires explode and the truck rolls over you can sue for money. any good michelin tire gives a fantastic ride. gonna switch when my good year wranglers need to be replaced.

As far as tires go, I think for the money, the best tire you can buy is a Yokohama Geolander H/T-S. Before I got my Dak I had a Toyota RAV4 with Bridgestone Deuler H/T's and they sucked, royaly sucked. Terrible tire. I made the switch to the Yoki's and it was like night and day. The noise reduction alone with the Yoki's was incredible.
No experience with the Dueler HTs but I have a buddy who runs the geolanders on his Toyota and they are soft. Because they are soft they don't have a long life but for the price and performance he gets he keeps replacing them with the same tire. I've been wanting to try a set but haven't as of yet..
