Default Gas Mileage increase with a K&N?

Hey everyone. I got a K&N air filter for my 06 3.7l v6 for a buck at walmart, they were on clearance for $17 bucks, and it rang up for a dollar! But anyway, thats why I bought it mainly, cause it was cheaper then a paper. Did anyone see a gain in gas mileage? I know theres no power gain, im simply wondering about mileage. thx.

Well I have the air hog from fram and I maybe seen 1 mpg improvement on highway but thats a maybe. My improvement may just be from breaking the truck in and their are too many other factors involved. To truly improve it you need the cold air intake system and combine that with a low restriction exhust and you should see 1-4 mpg change and 3 to 4 might be pushing it.

I agree with slehner's post. I bought a K & N cold air intake a few weeks ago. I notice about a 2 mpg difference driving around town. Just get ready to spend a little $$$ for it.

do you have a part number for the K&N cold air filter. If I understand this correctly this is more than just a filter itself.

thanks Stash

I just found the price I think--260.00 or so. Why is this so much??---all I see is a filter and a pipe. The filter itself mayby 50.00 or so, so where is the extra 200.00 for?---I feel this is way,way overpriced unless I am missing something??----
Please set me straight.

Thanks Stash

Got me. Must be 50-60 filter, 50 pipe and maybe 50-80 labor (making to shiping) and at least 50 name with 50 profit.

Oh one other thing I'm not 100% sure but I think the dakota 3.7 and 4.7 have identical intake and exhast But I'm almost positive the intake is the same so I don't get why they have different intakes for the 2 engins. Until someone proves me wrong I would say get the K&N for the 4.7 its cheaper.

I think all the CAI manufacturers have the market cornered. They know we got newer trucks with very little mods available at this time. B@$t@rds! They know people will pay almost $300 for a CAI. Maybe e-bay might have some better prices.

I got my KN intake off ebay for about 225.00. I got the plastic tube one as I thing the plastic will stay cooler then the chrome metal one. I've noticed about 1.5 MPG increase, but a better throttle response. I think these CAI are just more for looks and a nice sound and less to do with performance. The KN says 9hp at 4k RPM...how often are we really running at that RPM and 9hp gain you wouldn't feel anyway. I honestly got mine b/c I just like the sound....
