Default Looking at buying a new 06 Dak striped out model 2wd $10,900

For the money it seems like a nice truck, anyone seen them advertised for less? Im a toyota fan only because of resale value and there trucks are perty nice. But for 11grand the dodge 2wd with a getrag six speed with the color lineup looks like a winner. I like the fact the extracab is standard even though i cant fit back there. Is this truck worth getting? Also the tacoma striped out with 4cyl and no extra cab 2wd is like $14,800 around here. Dak seems good.

Depends what you need it for and where you live. I have a 06 2wd but I am in TX, however I have the V8 because I pull watercraft all over. If you looking for a nice truck for light duty I say it would be a great truck. Also if you dont mind the missing options go for it! There are a few aftermarket parts to dress it up a bit, CAIs and exhaust systems. The same basic truck in the Dak range as I see you know are the Tacomas, man unless those are loaded they are really crappy looking IMO. I cant speak for the 6s but the V8 is pretty good for its small cubic inch. I sure many will chime in here......

Yes the v6 will work fine for pulling my 176 starcraft fishmaster alum boat, heck i used to tow it with my lifted wrangler,33s and 3.07 gears. I was looking at a graphite one and i found a paint flaw, passanger side hood had a little gunk and over spray. Its the second truck ive seen new from dodge with paint missing or this. Dealer local keeps saying in the 14k range but iver found several other dealers like kingofcars.com newspaper adds and more in the ten range. Everyone keeps talking about power and the like but heck price is what floats my boat keep it cheap and new. Anyone know whats the most i can put down on this truck and still get the 1000 chrysler finance rebate. Not the least the most hehe or i could pay cash. Also you mention if you dont mind missing options? Im a jeep wrangler dude after owning 9 of them this truck seems loaded lol. Airconditioning, abs rear, side glass windows instead of plastic, bumper with a hole for ball, big place to put paint sprayers and tile, yeah i consider the stock dak loaded.

I bought my 05 dak from Dave Smith Motors in Kellogg, ID. They have a 800 number on their web site. They are also open on sundays. They are the worlds largest Dodge Dealership. I know of no other dealer who will treat you better or give you a better price on a new truck. I paid 26,200 total which includes 8.3% washington sales tax and $1655 worth of extra's for my SLT V8 4.7L 5speed auto 4X4, which had a MSRP price of 28,859. Give them a call today you may be suprised at the prices they have. When I bought my truck I flew to spokane, wa. and they came and picked me up. this is about 80 miles from Kellogg. Going home was a great 340 mile breaking for the truck.

Not to sound like a jerk but why would you spend 26k for a dodge truck that isnt a diesel? If i was spending that kind of money id get a new tacoma or tundra with sweet resale value.

Because trucks have gotten expensive.
Just like Chevy and Ford, the only truck Dodge offers is in the heavy-duty trucks (2500 and 3500 Rams), and those trucks, equipped with diesels, have a starting MSRP around $40,000 (the Cummins is a $5,000 option, but so is other trucks diesels) *edit* Believe me, I wish they would offer a diesel in the mid-sized. If they shoved a diesel in the Daktoa, I would actually consider buying a brand-new Dakokta.
The Ford Ranger and Chevy Colorado do, in fact, have a lower base MSRP, but the Dakota is by far a better truck.
I've seen a few Toyota Tacoma's wandering around my base, and to be truthful, I think most of them look down right ugly, but, of course, some people think that about the Dakota.
Bottom line, while the Dakota might be a little on the expensive side, its a truck that has proved itself as being reliable and capable.

My orignal plan was for a 2500 ram SLT with diesel, but dodge no longer makes the Club Cab for the ram. I never wanted the Quad Cab. I realized over the course of four years on my planned purchase I would never need the towing capacity of the ram. The dakota really had what I needed except the diesel and was 12,000 less and the mpg was the same. I am very happy with my purchase. I know I could have bought used and got the ram for less than 26K. I bought new as I plan for this to be my last truck and I plan to keep it for a very long time.

Sounds like a good deal to me.My ST stickered out just over 24k,I bought it last year around this time with employee pricing for 16,800.Mine came with 4.7 5 speed auto, heated buckets with power drivers seat, center console with cruise and rear jump seats .Slap on a chrome bumper and some trim powerlocks & windows I'd have a SLT.I kinda like it like it is the black plastic front bumper cover and rear black bumper look real nice with the mineral gray paint.I never had power locks & window in any of my trucks so I don't miss them. Now that I got rid of the chrome grill I think it looks pretty sporty.I see buckets, consoles rear jumpers factory fog lamps and other stuff on ebay all the time so you have some options on dressing it up.
